Sonya is currently on maternity leave.
Sonya began teaching yoga in 2002 and completed her Yoga Teacher Training with teachers Barrie Risman and Robin Golt. She holds a B.Sc. in Exercise Science from Concordia University, is a certified Polestar Pilates teacher, and is currently studying with Osteopath, Mr. Guy Voyer, to learn Soma Training. Sonya is very passionate about learning the intelligence and brilliance of the human body, as well as understanding biomechanics, anatomy, and movement. She enjoys sharing with her students the possibilities of what the body can do and the powerful impact that yoga and asana practice has on our health and well-being.
Over the years deepening her yoga practice, studying anatomy and movement, and understanding the timeless wisdom that yoga has to offer, has been transformative and valuable in both her life and for her as a teacher. Her classes are inspiring, uplifting, and lighthearted. She joyfully encourages her students to connect with themselves in a deep and loving way.
Aside from teaching group classes, Sonya also works one-on-one with students to teach them precision of movement, combined with yoga and exercise techniques that are nurturing and healing for their body. She has assisted in several Yoga Teacher Trainings in Montreal, and loves to share from her own experience and appreciation of the magnificence of the human body.
